Eat & Drink
There are a number of shops and places to eat and relax in the Nuwejaars Wetlands Special Management Area.
The Nuwejaars Wetland Special Management Area forms a part of the Elim Wine Route – where wineries create unique wines formed in our cool-climate conditions. The NWSMA is also home to coffee shops.
Taste delicious First Sighting and Strandveld Wines at the Strandveld Vineyards. Strandveld is also a member of the Elim Wine Route, with the vineyards producing unique wines, crafted in the cool-climate conditions in the Nuwejaars Wetlands Special Management Area.
Enjoy wine (and beer) tastings at the Black Oystercatcher Tasting Room. The Black Oystercatcher is part of the Elim Wine Route, producing refreshing cool-climate wines. You can also enjoy a variety of snacks from the Deli, and wonderful gift options from the shop.
Fraser’s Folly Craft Beer
Beer tastings are also available at the Black Oystercatcher Tasting Room. The winery is the home of craft brewery, Fraser’s Folly – with Fraser’s favourites available here. Fraser’s Folly is the only English-style craft beer in the country.
Zoetendal Trading Post
Stop off at this winery and coffee shop on the road to Elim. Along with the coffee, the Zoetendal Trading Post also sells Becker’s Craft Beer, and a range of other local produce and goods. The shop is ideally located above the Nuwejaars River – the heart of the Nuwejaars Wetlands SMA.
RESTAURANTS & DELI’S
Black Oystercatcher Restaurant
This restaurant and deli serves fresh meals – straight from the garden, and as the seasons dictate. There are a number of favourites on the menu, from the Black Oystercatcher Burger, to the creamy Mussel Pan – all perfectly paired with their cool-climate wines.
Zoetendal Trading Post
On the road to Elim, you’ll find this deli, winery and coffee shop. The Zoetendal Trading Post sells delicious local produce and craft beer. The Trading Post is situated just above the Nuwejaars River, and is therefore also a wonderful showcase of the region’s birdlife.
Eat and relax in Elim
There are a range of coffee shops and eateries in the town of Elim – which include meals that are true to the Overberg. Pop in at the Waterfront Coffee Shop, or enjoy a meal at more relaxed settings
